Greetings!

As we approach Father's Day weekend, I'm thinking about the joys, challenges, responsibilities, and pride that come with being a dad and/or a father figure in today's crazy world.

My husband Al Carr, who you know as a neighbor, a friend, and your current State Delegate, has worked tirelessly over the past 15 years in the Maryland legislature, focusing on the needs of his constituents. Al is known for his dedication and integrity - all too rare in politics these days. And he has gotten RESULTS : improving public safety, holding government agencies accountable, boosting local businesses, improving health insurance coverage for kids, helping workers, you name it. Now he is campaigning to represent you on the local level as a Montgomery County Councilmember for the newly drawn District 4.

And he's done all this while being an active and involved dad to our three boys, Miles,Toby and Oliver !

Al has juggled life as a legislator with life in the carpool lane. He has traveled to school games, plays, and family events as often as he has traveled to the State House in Annapolis. Together we have faced the challenges that come with being a parent today in an interfaith, multiracial family. Al always keeps his cool, finding it more effective to parent with patience than pressure.

Having been raised by a single mom, Al learned early on about struggling to make ends meet and the importance of being there for your kids. I've seen the qualities that make him a fantastic father also make him an effective leader. Al will always put the well being of his constituents ahead of his own, just the way he has put his family first as a dad for the last 20 years.

The primary election is coming up on July 19 ( note: you can vote early on July 7-14 or vote from home by requesting a ballot be mailed to you). You have important decisions to make about what kind of leaders you want to shape the future of our county. When voting for your County Council District 4 representative, I urge you to vote for Al Carr. As a longtime public servant with a demonstrated record of effectiveness, Al will bring the care and consideration, patience and passion, empathy and energy that he has shown in the State House to our local issues here in Montgomery County.

The financial cost of campaigns is HIGH. In order to fund mailers, a field program, all the signage and other overhead, Al needs to raise at lease another $10,000 to get over the finish line. Can you help TODAY by giving $55, $45, $25 or even $10?

Al and I want to thank ALL of the fathers and father figures out there, serving our kids and our community in a million different ways, and wish you a Happy Father's Day!

With gratitude and lots of pride.

XOXO Barrie

P.S. As I mentioned above, Al is running in a competitive race and needs to raise the funds to pay his staff and to pay for postage to get his message out to voters. Would you please consider a donation?
