Middle and high school-aged youth are invited to join Indiana Authors Award nominee Januarie York for an afternoon of poetry inspired by Marvel and DC Comics.


The workshop with the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award honoree Januarie York is part of the Indiana Authors Awards Speaker Program, powered by Indiana Humanities and made possible through the generosity of Glick Philanthropies. Midtown Indy is partnering with Tea's Me Community Café, Catch the Stars Foundation, and MLK Center to bring it to life.

Keystone-Monon Planning Meeting

Feb. 15, 5:30 p.m.

Refinery46, 2201 E. 46th St.


Residents, business owners, and interested community members are invited to learn about the Department of Metropolitan Development's Certified Plan process and how to get involved in preparing a plan for the Keystone-Monon neighborhood. A hybrid meeting option is available.


Midtown Indy is the convening partner on the plan and is seeking steering committee members. Submit nominations to danita@midtownindy.org.


Once the steering committee is formed, it will specify a governance structure, meeting and communication methods, and voting procedures.

Devour Indy Through Feb. 5


Support and celebrate restaurants in Midtown and throughout the city this winter during Devour Indy. More than 100 eateries are offering special menus today through Feb. 5. Search restaurants by location, cuisine type, price point, and type of ownership.

Three Midtown Parks Benefit From Lilly Endowment Grant


On Jan. 10, Mayor Hogsett joined leadership from the Lilly Endowment and Indy Parks to announce $80 million in grants to improve 42 parks. Three of the parks slotted to receive funds reside in Midtown:


  • Al Polin Park: $600 thousand towards a basketball court upgrade, walkway improvements, playground replacement, and beautification
  • Arsenal Park: new playground
  • Tarkington Park: $3 million towards additional walkways, shelters, and a new multipurpose field.

New Food Options at Ivy Tech


The Ivy Tech Bowen Commons food court has two new options for students and the community.


Real Taste Catering is now serving chicken, burgers, pizza, and more on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.


Tea's Me has taken over a former Starbucks kiosk to provide breakfast, wraps, salads, tea, and coffee on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. The Tarkington Park location remains open from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Join Buddy the Tyrannosaurus rex and his Pteranodon family on a time-traveling adventure through the Age of the Dinosaurs. Based on the popular PBS KIDS TV series, Dinosaur Train, this exhibit explores the basics of science through fun, hands-on activities.

  • The Verizon Small Business Digital Ready platform offers free on-demand business classes, peer networking, and live expert coaching.
  • The Department of Business and Neighborhood Services (DBNS) announced a new Sign-On Bonus program providing up to $2,000 to new DBS employees. A list of open positions within DBNS, including Indianapolis Animal Care Services, is available online.
  • The Indianapolis Art Center is offering community members recently affected by layoffs free "Make It Take It" classes. Current offerings include painting, resin casting, and printmaking. To apply, call the Guest Services Team at (317) 255-2464.
  • The Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority's Energy Assistance Program helps pay energy and water bills for those make 60% of the state median income or less.
  • Report street and alley maintenance concerns, missed trash pickup, or animal care concerns via RequestIndy.
  • If you've experienced or witnessed a potential bias-motivated crime, report it to the Marion County Hate Crimes Hotline at (317) 327-5314.
  • Submit traffic complaints including speeding, illegally parked vehicles, and running red lights to IMPD online.
