Dearest Friends,
I’m so excited to share my newest creation, Mogie the Blue-Footed Booby. This is my second book, and it holds a very special place in my heart because it began with a wonderful encounter I had while on a cruise to the Galápagos Islands.
| | |
During the trip, I had the opportunity to see both blue-footed boobies and red-footed boobies in the wild. I was fascinated by these beautiful and wonderfully unusual birds, especially their colorful feet. I couldn’t stop thinking about them, and before long, little Mogie came to life.
| | | | | Mogie is a baby blue-footed booby who gets swept away by a tropical storm and lands far from home. After being rescued by a group of kind animals, Mogie discovers that his bright blue feet are different from those of his new friends. He tries everything he can to change them, only to discover that being different isn’t something to hide, it’s something to celebrate. | | | A sweet story about friendship, belonging, and finding your place in the world, Mogie is a reminder that sometimes the very thing that makes us different is what makes us special. | | Pictures I took on the cruise to the Galápagos Islands that inspired Mogie's story | | |
Creating Mogie also brought me back to my roots. Before becoming a full-time artist, I worked professionally as an illustrator, so writing and illustrating this little book was a wonderful way to reconnect with that part of my creative journey. I illustrated every page and even included photographs from my cruise that inspired Mogie’s story.
If you’d like to bring Mogie home or share his story with someone special, I’d love for you to have a copy. Simply click the link below to order.

I hope children, and the grown-ups who read with them, enjoy meeting Mogie as much as I enjoyed bringing him to life.
Warmly,
| | | Before Mogie, there was The Girls, my first book, celebrating the women and stories that inspired my collection. | | Featuring nearly 100 of The Girls paintings, this stunning 180-page coffee table book pairs each artwork with an inspirational quote from beloved luminaries, from Mother Teresa to Winnie the Pooh, creating a collection of profound, poetic, uplifting, and lighthearted reflections. A beautiful gift that will inspire, encourage, and be cherished for years to come. | | Amy Art Gallery + Studio is owned by artist Amy Moglia Heuerman. The gallery exhibits Heuerman’s paintings in a variety of genres; abstract, coastal, and her celebrated series of “The Girls,” paintings that feature faceless figures in dancing movements against Heuerman’s signature layered backgrounds. The gallery is an elegant, loft-like space bathed in light streaming through soaring, double-height wraparound windows. There are several areas of exhibit space featuring Heuerman’s artwork, a reception area, working studio space, and salon style seating. | |
