Worship in the Woods

Sunday, October 18, at 9:00 a.m.

Fresh air and movement are good for us all. Celebrate the changing colors and seasons as we "Worship in the Woods" and take our church service in the form of a 30-minute hike at Fullersburg Woods (flat terrain, roughly 1/2 mile). Meet near the Nature Center off the main parking lot or at any of the four stops along the way for prayer, reflection, gratitude, wonder and a celebration of the beauty all around us. We step off right at 9:00. All are welcome!

Camerata Chicago Orchestra Presents: A Midsummer Night's Dream

Sunday, October 18, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., in the Sanctuary

Join us for a stunning 2026 / 2027 Camerata Chicago season opening concert and enjoy Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night’s Dream with excerpts from Shakespeare. Watch the magical tale unfold as Maestro Drostan Hall conducts and narrates. This is a family-friendly event by Union Church's Ensemble-in-Residence.

Camerata Chicago's superb wind Principals will perform Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for Four Wind Instruments:

- Grace Hong, oboe

- Elizandro Garcia Montoya, clarinet

- Lee Shirer, horn

- Vincent Karamanov, bassoon

Senior Minister Search Update

The Senior Minister Search Committee is excited to share that we are in the final phase of the search. If all goes well, we expect to conclude our work in the very short-term. That is not a guarantee, but we believe we stand in a very good position right now after evaluating many candidates and having multiple deep conversations with those we thought to be the best fit. Especially now in this delicate part of the process, please continue to keep the entire committee and candidates in your prayers.

What? No Chapel Piano?

Our chapel piano will be receiving some much-needed TLC and maintenance, beginning on September 17. While you will see the piano itself remaining in place, for roughly 4 weeks the actual black-and-white keyboard will be gone while our technician gives it the love and attention it deserves! Thank you for supporting our music ministry at Union and understanding how important it is to maintain our beautiful instruments!

Union Church is bustling, and we LOVE IT! With that being said, rooms are not as readily available as they once were. If a committee, ministry, or group needs to use one of our rooms please contact Adriana Kieffer to book a space for a specific date and time.

Send any requests to disseminate information to the Union Church congregation to communications@uchinsdale.org. The deadline for newsletter submissions is Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. anything received after the deadline will be placed in the e-blast the following week. This allows the email to be distributed to everyone involved in getting the word out.
