Low Income Grants Guidelines

MySafeFLHomeButton image

The My Safe Florida Grant is a 2 to 1 matching grant, up to $10,000. For every $1 that you pay towards safeguarding your home, the state will pay $2. To maximize the grant, you pay $5,000 and receive $10,000.

However, low income families qualify for a direct grant with no matching requirement. With the new expansion, low income families can now receive up to $10,000, without having to pay anything themselves.

The definition of low income is a family that earns up to 80 percent of the median income. The number varies based on each county.

Here is a breakdown for Miami Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach, Hillsborough and Orange counties, based on the number of people per household.

Miami Dade

1 - $54,600

2 - $62,400

3 - $70,200

4 - $78,000

5 - $84,250

6 - $90,500

7 - $96,750

8 - $103,000

Broward

Palm Beach

3 - $66,250

4 - $73,600

3 - $59,700

4 - $66,300

5 - $71,650

6 - $76,950

7 - $82,250

8 - $87,550

If you fall into the above numbers, then you qualify for the low income grant. If your income is higher, you still qualify for the regular matching grant.

Please Note: The My Safe Florida Home website only shows the numbers up to eight people per household. However, based on our understanding of the law, the income threshold is even higher for larger families.

Additionally, the law states that "low income" is based on Adjusted Gross Annual Income. Certain deductions may apply, such as "parsonage" or other tax exempt income.
