Dear Angela,
I just reintroduced the Common Ground Amendment Act: a bill to require that when DC gives away public lands to developers we're creating more affordable housing, building more multi-bedroom units for families, and increasing community input so that development is driven by the needs of communities more than the desire of developers. I hear from residents all the time who have a justified perception that the District is giving away land and not getting enough in return. This issue is personal for me like it is for so many of you. Too many members of my own family have been forced out of the city as housing costs have increased beyond reach. This is an answer to that concern. I'm grateful to my colleagues Councilmembers Bonds, Nadeau, Pinto, Lewis George, Henderson, and Parker for their support in co-introducing this measure.

Sincerely,
Robert
