Margaret meets Rediet

In the summer of 2009, our daughter, Margaret, volunteered with the Hope for Children Fund Youth Center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It was there that she met Rediet, an eleven year old orphan who, when asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, responded "President of Ethiopia!" Margaret sensed that Rediet had amazing potential and asked if we could be his family. And that was how it all began.

A life changed forever

That moment changed Rediet's life. We've had regular contact with him throughout our sponsorship and during that time, we've watched Rediet grow into a responsible young man who works hard, loves people and inspires us. Because he enjoys art and science, I encouraged him to pursue architecture and he is now in his final year at the Architectural School of Engineering at Dire Dawa University. Our hope for him is that he will continue to thrive and be happy. And we helped to make that possible. Isn't that incredible?

Before she died, Rediet's mother told him, "People love you. People love you. All day say this. And if you love people, God will help you."
