I Can't Believe It Is Almost Christmas!
When I was young, the thing I liked best about Christmas was Christmas carols. Yes, there was family, gatherings, lights, and presents. But, I liked the Carols!
Like most of us, I knew the words to the songs we sang. But we never listened to the words that came out of our mouths. As I look back on them, the words of the pop songs that I knew in the 50's and 60's were quite lewd or indecent. But, I loved the tunes and I sang the songs. Later, as I learned more about life, I could see the real message in the words.
Study the words in Christmas carols. I'm not talking about songs like "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" - those are "seasonal songs", if you will.
I mean real, classic Christmas carols.
"Joy To The World, The Lord Has Come!"
There is not only "joy" in that simple phrase, but also "happiness," "everyone," "everything," "the way we should be living," "our mistakes are forgiven," and "it is available now, for everyone."
Do we live like that phrase? No.
Can we live like that phrase? Yes.
Should we live like that phrase?
The Joy has to start somewhere. Let it start with us!
Have a Merry & Blessed Christmas!
