As genealogists, we enjoy uncovering and preserving the stories of others—our parents, grandparents, and ancestors who came before us. But when it comes to telling our own story, that can feel more challenging.
Recently, I had the honor of being interviewed by Crista Cowan from Ancestry.com for her Stories That Live in Us podcast. This wasn’t about research tips or breaking down brick walls—it was about me. My own personal journey, my family, and the experiences that have shaped who I am.
I’ll admit, opening up like this wasn’t easy. It felt vulnerable, but also deeply important. Because our stories matter just as much as the ones we uncover in digital records and faded photographs. If we don’t tell them, who will?
I’d be truly honored if you’d take a few moments to watch this interview. And if something in it speaks to you—if it reminds you of your own journey or sparks a memory—please leave a comment on the video. I would love to hear your thoughts, and even more, to hear how you are telling your own story.
