TCNJ students are heading to the Haven Center in Ghana!
As part of the partnership with the College of New Jersey (TCNJ), 10 students participating in the study abroad program will be working with the children at the Haven International Center for Special Education in Ghana. Through a balanced schedule of lecture, demonstration, and classroom-based experiences, the students will develop knowledge and skills in current best practices that address the needs of individuals with low-incidence disabilities (e.g. autism, intellectual disabilities). Practices in areas such as assessment, curriculum design, instructional strategies, positive behavioral supports, and home-school collaboration will be examined throughout the course.
They will be present for the graduation activities of the young adults who are completing life skills and vocational training at Haven International. Drs. Petroff and Naples, Professors from TCNJ will be the special guests at the graduation ceremony.
Haven International is a global initiative of MyGOAL Autism. The Center is principally supported by Focus for Health Foundation and individual partners.
