A message from TTC CEO Rick Leary

|
The TTC has been witnessing a steady ridership increase over the past few months and we’re anticipating a jump in September as more people return to in-person work and students return to school.
Our September Readiness planning now underway is focused on four key areas:
- Increasing service across all modes and on many routes to make sure we’re delivering service where and when it’s most needed;
- Recruiting, hiring and training more frontline employees to meet the service improvements;
- Enhancing cleanliness throughout the entire system, including a station cleaning blitz over the summer;
- And of course a renewed focus on safety and customer service excellence.
An important aspect in all of this is reminding customers just how affordable transit is compared to driving (especially given current gas prices) with programs, such as children under 12 riding free and the two-hour transfer.
We expect some increases in service come September and we will be sure to communicate the good news once it is finalized.
Rewards and Recognition
As a reminder, nominations for the Rewards and Recognition December event will close next week on July 29. Please make some time in your day to recognize a colleague’s outstanding efforts in making a difference and leading to the TTC’s overall success.
The categories are: Customer Service, Diversity, Leadership, Teamwork, Safety, and Innovation and Creativity. All employees can participate in the nomination process, and all employees are eligible to win. The nomination form is available at rewards.ttc.ca.
2023 Annual Service Plan
The TTC is currently seeking feedback from our customers and the general public to develop our 2023 Annual Service Plan (ASP). The survey is available online at ttc.ca until July 31 (it’s available over the phone at by calling 647-955-6256 or ask for a copy through the mail).
This year the public is invited to share feedback on three main priority areas: COVID-19 learnings, Line 3 surface route changes, and proposed surface routes that will connect to the upcoming Line 6 Finch West, which is scheduled for completion next year.
We know travel patterns may have shifted during the pandemic, and this survey aims to identify learnings from COVID as well as gather feedback on upcoming changes to our system.
Lastly, on Saturday the TTC Recreation Council hosts its Annual Softball Tournament at the CAA Centre, 7575 Kennedy Rd. in Brampton. Participating teams will be representing bus, streetcar, subway, track, training, shops, carhouses, management and union. Games start at 8 a.m. All are welcome to cheer on their home team!
Stay safe, play safe,

Peter-Jay Abraham
Senior Customer Service Representative, Marketing and Customer Experience
Peter-Jay prefers the hustle and bustle of a big city over a small town. He grew up using transit and has always found the TTC to be a fascinating system, which led him to join the Commission in 2015.
Since 2015, Peter-Jay has been a Metropass Discount Plan Representative, Customer Information Representative and Lost Articles Representative. He is now a Senior Customer Service Representative in the Marketing and Customer Experience Department.
Peter-Jay has been happy to be part of many TTC initiatives throughout the years. His most memorable moment was assisting around 55,000 customers by providing them with all the necessary information to transfer their Metropass Discount Plans to the PRESTO 12-month plan. This important task was a large undertaking but was very fulfilling for him.
One of Peter-Jay's favourite parts about working at the TTC is talking to customers, learning about them, and helping them solve their issues. He also enjoys working in Toronto because he finds the city to be diverse and multicultural.
Outside work, Peter-Jay enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing video games, and participating in sports. He’s rooting for the Toronto Blue Jays to win the World Series this year!
