A message from TTC CEO Rick Leary
| |
Back to school and TIFF
This week has been a big one for the TTC. With school returning and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) opening, we know that our ridership will increase as it typically does in September. In response, service has increased on all modes.
Employees across the TTC have been working hard to make sure that we are fully prepared to welcome everyone back, and I want to acknowledge the efforts made across the organization.
Vaccine clinics at the TTC
Following the success of vaccination clinics at TTC stations last year and earlier this year, the TTC will host eight pop-clinics for employees, their families and customers from September 8 to September 25. In partnership with Toronto Public Health (TPH), first doses, second doses, boosters, as well as pediatric doses of Pfizer, Pediatric Pfizer and Moderna will be available. Please see below for further information on the clinics.
TTC United Way Campaign Kick-Off
And finally, on Wednesday September 14 the TTC is officially kicking off its 2022 TTC/United Way Campaign with a pep-rally and kick-off BBQ at Hillcrest Complex. The poster with details about the event are also below.

TTC subway crew save child from track level
On August 11, Subway Operator Ian Cooper (second from the left) was operating a train near Warden Station when he saw a child walking at track level. Ian safely stopped the train, and, once the power was cut, his subway partner Lou Kellen (second from the right) retrieved the child and safely brought them onto the train. Thanks to this train crew's attentiveness, quick-thinking and professionalism, the child was returned to their family safely.
Pictured above: Head of Transit Control Michael Puplett (far left) and Head of Subway Transportation Claudio Caschera (far right) thank Ian and Lou on behalf of the TTC.

Back to school on the TTC
The TTC has been working with schools to share helpful tips for students travelling back to school on the TTC.
This includes working directly with local school administrators to share safety reminders for students not to run or jaywalk to catch a bus, to carry their backpack in front of them and place it at their feet or on their lap while riding, to form a single line at a bus stop and stay back from the curb, and that wearing a mask is strongly encouraged while taking the TTC.
View other helpful tips for customers.
