Word from our CEO

"When we talk about progress in myeloma, we often focus on the things that are easiest to measure: response rates, progression-free survival, overall survival, and a variety of laboratory results. [...] But as someone who has spent more than 20 years working alongside patients and families affected by myeloma, I can tell you that patients measure success differently. Patients care deeply about living longer. But they also care about how they live."

Updating Quality of Life Measures in Multiple Myeloma

As treatments become more effective, it is important to capture what patients and caregivers truly experience in daily life and use that information to improve care, research, and decision-making. One way to do this is through patient-reported outcome measures, or in short, PROMs.

What are PROMs?

The Myeloma Canada Ride: A Record-Breaking Cycling Season

This year's Myeloma Canada Ride was nothing short of extraordinary. From coast to coast, 513 cyclists and 92 volunteers came together to raise funds for myeloma research, education, advocacy, and community programs.

Spotlight on Brent Smith

It was April 29th, 2020, just about a couple of months into COVID. I'd been suffering from back pain for years and years and years. But I was always banging myself up playing sports, so I'd just pop ibuprofen and muscle through. Then I slipped on a stair, fell down, and thought I'd separated my shoulder. When I got in for an X-ray, that's when they discovered the myeloma.

Video of the Month: The Importance of Diversity in Clinical Trials for Myeloma Patients

Robert Hawke chats with Dr Joseph Mikhael, hematologist, about why equity, diversity and inclusion in clinical trials isn't just the right thing to do, it's good science.
