BOARD MEMBER RECRUITMENT
We are looking for volunteer board members to sustain our work. While we require Myeloma patient representation on the board, we also encourage new members to support our initiatives and to replace those who have contributed in the past. Please consider volunteering for the board, or suggest someone you know who would be a strong board member. Remember that a candidate can join as a Member at Large to learn about the Society in more detail before taking on additional responsibilities. We are currently searching for the following potential positions to be filled over the next 2 years:
President (term expiring in the next 2 years)
Vice President (Currently vacant),
Treasurer (accounting background would be considered helpful)
Communications (newsletter, social media and website experience would be considered helpful)
Advocacy (some familiarity with the medical system and medications would be considered helpful), This position would require ability to liaison with other groups to increase our impact.
Technology -ability to direct the improvement of our communication and record keeping systems
Membership - reach new patients who can benefit from MASS
Education - ability plan and organize education events for patients, caregivers and potentially medical providers
Since the Society was founded we have raised and donated more than $1.8 million to local Myeloma research at the University and The Cross Cancer Institute. We will need new board members to continue this track record.

MULTIPLE MYELOMA ACTION MONTH
This year Myeloma Canada will not only be taking part in Myeloma Action Month on a National Level but on a International Level as well. Below you will find information regarding Myeloma Canada’s March activities:
- Global landmark lightings
As part of the international collaboration with GMAN, landmarks around the world will be lit in red during the month of March. Myeloma organizations in Australia, Canada, South Korea and beyond are participating. Thanks to the incredible volunteers I have been working with over the past few months, we already have approved landmark lightings in nine provinces and one territory, with more to come.
If a landmark lighting is happening in your area, here are some things you can do:
- Take photos of the landmark illuminated in red.
- If you’re comfortable, take a photo of yourself, your family, or your group with the lit landmark.

Please send your photos to Chantel Wicks at cwicks@myeloma.ca so we can share and celebrate them on social media.
2.A national social media campaign
Throughout March, Myeloma Canada will be encouraging people across the country to do something creative with the colour RED, take a photo, and share it on social media using #MoreThanMyeloma and #MyelomaActionMonth.
If you’re interested in taking part in the social media campaign, here are the simple steps:

- Take a photo with your sign
