Saints of the Day

The third Sunday of Holy Pascha is observed by the Orthodox Church as the Sunday of the Holy Myrrhbearers. The day commemorates when the women disciples of our Lord came to the tomb to anoint his body with myrrh-oils but found the tomb empty. Did you know that you can light a Virtual Candle from your computer?

YOU CAN!!!

Simply click on the picture and you will be taken to our website where you can light virtual candles. There are 3 easy steps:

Take your computer mouse over the candles on the table.
Click on a candle to pick it up and bring it the the virtual flame.
Light your candle and hover over the candlestand until the base is highlighted, click on your mouse and the candle will be placed in the virtual sand!

We thank the Library/Museum Committee for overseeing the setup of the online program and of course the Internet Ministries Department of the Archdiocese who is able to make this happen!

GARDENING MINISTRY - The Gardening Ministry will be beginning its 2026 season, to cleanup and enhance the flower beds at St. George Cathedral. We welcome anyone who would be interested in joining us. We are a hands-on, get dirty group. If interested in helping, please reach out to Presbytera Ann Routos by phone or text at 603-860-5158. Our first Gardening Ministry meeting will be on Tuesday 4/28 at noon, at St. George Cathedral. Anyone interested in joining the Gardening Ministry are welcome to attend!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - The Families in Transition (FIT) Soup Kitchen serve hundreds of families and individuals in the community who need help. The Assumption Parish has requested to help on the 4th Sunday of every month. Anyone who is 16 or order can volunteer to help! If you are passionate about making a difference in your community, there is no better time than right now to join our volunteer team! Each household is invited to pick up a complimentary copy of The Divine Liturgy Explained in the community center during coffee hour.

Hiding. We may have done this when with our friends, like playing hide-n-seek, and sometimes this might be done when we are afraid of something.

Did you know that the disciples were afraid and were hiding? Do you want to know how they overcame that fear of “being afraid”?

Life can hit us hard sometimes and because of that, we can feel that we are banged up, thrown around in and through the present winds of life - which may be vocation/job changes, health issues, rejection, you name it.

Yet today we hear the situation of Thomas, who doubting the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, but Thomas is remembered also for saying something that happened a week earlier (at the death of Lazarus).

What did he say?

How can we learn from the doubt of Thomas to having the doubt free life that he (St. Thomas) had after seeing the Risen Lord?

Bread has been the emblem of God’s providence for us, throughout humanity’s history. Both physical (bread as food) and spiritual - the επιούσιον (epiousion) or “supersubstantial” bread of the Lord’s prayer, the bread of Holy Communion.

In the Orthodox Christian church, the pinnacle of our worship is union with Christ, both spiritually but also physically, by consuming the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Since the Last Supper, before every Divine Liturgy, one or more of the faithful prepare and bring bread to church to be used as the Body of Christ in the Eucharist. The Orthodox church is liturgical. For those of us who bake prosphoro, the liturgy begins as we prepare to bake!

Prosphoro is an offering to God, made from His material gifts to us, and prepared lovingly and prayerfully.
