How to Survivermont

Survivermont, a safety initiative from Vermont's Department of Public Safety, concerns what to do in an active-shooter situation. Officer Hugh Donald delivers practical advice in a low-key format to empower Vermonters to protect themselves and loved ones. His basic message: Run, Hide, Fight. In short, run if you can. If not, hide. Fight as a last resort.

Yin Yoga deep stretch for hips

Child's pose. Lizard. Three-legged down dog. Even utthita malasana. That's just another way of saying extended leg squat. Get those hips loose and shake 'em out with Katie Cawley of Upper Valley Yoga.

A couple of dudes riff on a couple of bad flicks

"Very disappointing" griped People Magazine. "Horrid" moaned The Seattle Times. Tune in and learn what CATV's very own Nick Arvizu had to say about this not-so-good sequel to the acclaimed movie Speed, starring Keanu Reeves, in this episode of A Couple of Flicks: The Worst 100.

End summer on a high note!

We are back from our summer recess with a list of books to enjoy as summer wanes. Specifically, we answer a question from Sarah on Instagram, "Looking for a light summer read this is well written, but is not a romance or set on a beach." Luckily, even though we proved a bit rusty on our recording abilities, the ability of Sam, Emma, Kari and Allie to recommend good books did not wane during our recess.

Shelf Help is a collaboration between the Book Jam, a nonprofit designed to inspire readers; CATV Upper Valley media community; three Upper Valley bookstores: Yankee Bookshop in Woodstock, VT; the Norwich Bookstore in Norwich, VT; and Still North Books & Bar in Hanover, NH.

Myth Makers

Sunday 8/28 at 7PM

@Hotel Coolidge

In a thousand years, will there be music, or will music have to be conjured?

Call it a utopian play — that is forward-looking, proposing something nearly perfect — seeking to be perfect as in the perfection of imagination — which, granted, is not real. Come see it anyway, a soap bubble reflecting the sky!

Original musical play written and directed by Duncan Nichols featuring Kate Magill, Soren Lavoie, Chico Eastridge, Emily Eastridge, Chris Hebb, Chiho Kaneko, WIll Moore, Noor Taher, Neal Meglathery, Henry Nichols, Alden Nichols, Rias Blaas, and Dan Daneen with costumes by Abby Smith, paintings by Antoinette Jacobson, and Dramaturgy by Mike Backman and Nora Jacobson. This event is a fundraiser for DIGS (Doorways Into Good Shelter) DIGS is a housing organization in Lebanon/Hartford to help directly shelter unhoused people.
