Dear Anjaney Borwankar,

Today we celebrate World Maritime Day with the theme MARPOL at 50 – Our commitment goes on. The theme puts a spotlight on the MARPOL convention that has been at the forefront of safeguarding our oceans for half a century. IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim explains the history and importance of MARPOL in this short video.

At Navozyme, we reinforce our commitment to facilitate the decarbonisation and digitalisation of the global maritime industry. For example, via N-MAP, Vessel Masters and Ship Agents can easily report and manage mandatory MARPOL declarations. MARPOL Operators also have a custom-made solution, N-SWAP, that enables the management of MARPOL data and the generation of e-Waste Delivery Receipts.

Navozyme joins the Port of Barcelona's innovation hub

Mr. Daniel Visa (third from right), Board Member- Navozyme, with Ms. Emma Cobos (fourth from right), Director of Innovation- Port of Barcelona at BlueTechPort

Navozyme has joined the newly inaugurated BlueTechPort. This innovation space created by the Port of Barcelona and Tech Barcelona is for companies whose aim is to promote innovation in all areas related to the blue economy.

Navozyme is grateful to the Port of Barcelona for its continued support.

Back in 2020, the Port Authority of Barcelona, the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Navozyme, along with other partners, piloted the development of a blockchain-enabled solution to reduce the complexity and friction related to the port clearance processes. The pilot later matured into the development of the N-MAP product which was later awarded the prestigious Ports 4.0 grant.

N-MAP connects with DUEPORT, Spain's Single Maritime Window and also the local Port Community Systems, to ease the data flows from the vessel. The solution is directed towards Ship Agencies and MARPOL operators to help increase productivity, reduce their administration burden, and their carbon footprint. N-MAP is currently undergoing trials with early adopters in Spain.

More information about N-MAP is available here.

Seafarers' credential management via N-CAP

With N-CAP, Maritime Training Institutions manage IMO-compliant Blockchain Enabled Electronic-certificates (BEEs). The BEEs enhance data protection, raise productivity, and provide real-time verification, eliminating fraud.

Prestigious organisations such as the International Association of Maritime Institutions (IAMI) in the UK, the Professional Yachting Association (PYA) in France, and the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) in the Philippines use N-CAP and have issued thousands of BEEs globally.

A whitepaper titled Digitalising Seafarers' Certificates is available describing the experiences of global Maritime Training Institutions and the benefits of BEEs.

Navozyme, in partnership with the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM), has concluded the development of the N-Bunker optimisation algorithm. Utilising data provided by the Port of Algeciras, the algorithm revealed the magnitude of waiting time that can be saved during bunkering processes in Algeciras.

About N-Bunker

N-Bunker is an award-winning solution that facilitates Just-In-Time bunkering processes. By applying deeptech (AI and Blockchain), N-Bunker reduces waiting time and eliminates wasted fuel burn, thereby facilitating decarbonisation.

About BCAM

BCAM is a premier European applied mathematics research institution. With over 100 experts, BCAM conducts cutting-edge research in areas such as Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
