Dear Anjaney Borwankar,

Trust you are very well!

The United Nations reached a historic agreement on the High Seas Treaty, which marks a significant milestone in the global efforts to protect the world's oceans. The treaty is designed to safeguard marine biodiversity by placing 30% of the world's oceans into protected areas. There is also increasing funding for marine conservation, and new rules for mining at sea.

At Navozyme, we continue our efforts to protect the marine environment and to facilitate decarbonisation of the maritime industry. Navozyme recently hosted a webinar featuring experts who discussed the role of nuclear energy in the energy transition. The session shed light on "new nuclear", the latest generation of nuclear reactors, and highlighted nuclear energy's crucial role to help reach the energy transition goals.

Webinar with energy experts on "new" nuclear

The sixth edition of Navozyme's Blue Seas Webinar Series had the privilege of hosting nuclear experts Dr Victor Nian, Co-founder and CEO of the Centre for Strategic Energy and Resources (CSER), and Jan Holm, Executive Vice President of Seaborg Technologies. The discussion was moderated by Anjaney Borwankar, Co-founder and Chief Executive of Navozyme.

The discussion began with Dr Victor Nian providing an overview of the current state of nuclear energy, including the evolution of nuclear reactors up to the fourth generation. Dr Nian reiterated the importance of nuclear energy's role to achieve the 1.5 C goal by 2050.

Jan Holm then presented Seaborg's use of fourth-generation nuclear reactors in their "Power-barges". These barges offer a cost-effective and sustainable solution for global deployment of nuclear power while eliminating safety risks associated with traditional nuclear energy.

Dr Victor Nian is a renowned expert in nuclear energy, hydrogen economy, and net-zero strategy and leads CSER in building ecosystems to support the energy transition in Asia. Dr Nian holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and BEng in Electrical Engineering and has previously been a Visiting Fellow at the University of Cambridge and Adjunct Full Professor at Tianjin University of Commerce.

Jan Holm is an accomplished senior leader with almost 30 years of international experience (in his previous roles he was CEO of A.P. Moller and Maersk Drilling in Singapore). More recently, he co-founded CSER and sits as the Chairman of The Board of Directors.

The Centre for Strategic Energy and Resources (CSER) is a think-and-do tank and an independent organisation established in the spirit of “knowledge and innovation without borders”. CSER's mission is to build enabling ecosystems to accelerate the energy transition in Asia.

Seaborg Technologies is developing a nuclear power plant concept fundamentally different from what exists today. Seaborg's goal is to make nuclear an inexpensive, sustainable and safe technology that can out-compete fossil fuels and revolutionise energy markets.

Prestigious Spanish ports innovation fund, Ports 4.0, selects Navozyme

Navozyme's Port Clearance Pilot was selected by the ports of Spain innovation fund, Ports 4.0. This recognition not only brings prestige to Navozyme, but also provides financial support from the Spanish Port Authorities, to help expedite the commercialisation of N-MAP.

Navozyme would like to take the opportunity to thank all our supporters (see logos of the supporters below) that have been with us from the inception of this project.

N-MAP uses deep-tech to facilitate Port Call Administration for safe, compliant, and quick vessel turnarounds. Some of the key features provided by N-MAP include real-time data interchange for port-clearances, MARPOL waste declarations, and bunkering processes.

N-CAP Client Experience: International Association of Maritime Institutions (IAMI), UK

Navozyme developed a new examination system for the International Association of Maritime Institutions (IAMI) which administers exams on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) of the United Kingdom.

Lars Lippuner, President of the International Association of Maritime Institutions (IAMI), UK, shared IAMI's experience working with Navozyme to pioneer the use of Blockchain Enabled E-certificates (BEEs). The new IAMI examination system automatically generates BEEs for eligible candidates enhancing productivity and data protection, while also facilitating decarbonisation by eliminating the need for paper printing and couriers.

BEEs are part of the N-CAP system, now available to leading flags and maritime training institutions to easily manage maritime credentials. Visit the new N-CAP website to learn more. You can also request a demo.
