Ore Cars
Now Shipping in N Scale
Ore Cars are specialized rail cars designed for carrying ore from iron ranges to manufacturing centers, to be used in the development of iron and steel products. While most loads originated in the ranges of the upper Midwest, cars could (and still can) be found across the country, belonging to railroads as far afield from each other as Western Pacific™ and the Pennsylvania Railroad. Today, former Ore Cars can also be found in maintenance-of-way service, where they are used for hauling and distributing ballast along the roadbed. The Bachmann N Scale Ore Car replicates the prototype with authentic scaling, fine details, and realistic paint schemes. All cars arrive with blackened metal wheels and are factory-equipped with E-Z Mate® Mark II knuckle couplers.

A Full-Size Model Railroad?
Our Communications Manager visited California this past week and spent a morning on the Union Pacific® Mojave Subdivision - home to the famous Tehachapi Loop. With elements such as horseshoe curves, steep grades, tracks that cross over themselves at varying elevations, plenty of tunnels, and rails skirting high along mountainsides, the Tehachapi area is almost like a life-size model railroad scene!
The prototype/same road number (now very faded by the California sun) for one of our tank cars was also spotted along this segment of railroad - how about that?
