Ore Cars are specialized rail cars designed for carrying ore from iron ranges to manufacturing centers, to be used in the development of iron and steel products. While most loads originated in the ranges of the upper Midwest, cars could (and still can) be found across the country, belonging to railroads as far afield from each other as Western Pacific™ and the Pennsylvania Railroad. Today, former Ore Cars can also be found in maintenance-of-way service, where they are used for hauling and distributing ballast along the roadbed. The Bachmann N Scale Ore Car replicates the prototype with authentic scaling, fine details, and realistic paint schemes. All cars arrive with blackened metal wheels and are factory-equipped with E-Z Mate® Mark II knuckle couplers.
