The Wide-Vision Caboose (also known as Extended-Vision Caboose) was designed with a wider cupola projecting from its sides. In the 1950s, taller "excess height" railcars were developed to allow for more and larger loads to be carried per car. The extended cupola assisted the train’s crew in seeing beyond these larger cars, while also giving them better visibility around the sides of the train. This caboose design saw service on most U.S. and Canadian Railroads and many lasted in service into the 1980s and beyond. Bachmann’s Wide-Vision Cabooses arrive fully assembled and come in a variety of paint schemes reflecting both classic and modern railroads across North America.
