Continuation Option for Sixth and Seventh Grade Students
Deadline to select the continuation option for current sixth and seventh grade students is January 31, 2020
Dear North Allegheny Middle School Family,

On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, the North Allegheny School District School Board voted on a final plan to redistrict the Elementary and Middle Schools for the 2020-2021 school year. The District sent you an email on December 9, 2019, to notify you that your child’s middle school will change for the 2020-2021 school year. A postcard was also mailed to your home address in early January.

Students who are currently in sixth and seventh grade have the option to remain at their current middle school for the remainder of their middle school career. You are receiving this email because our records indicate that you have not opted in or out of the continuation option available to current sixth and seventh grade students

Whether you elect for your child to continue at their current school next year or for your child to attend their redistricted school, we ask that all families complete the form either way. If you do not complete this form by Friday, January 31, your child will automatically be assigned to attend the school listed for your home address in the 2020-2021 redistricting plan.

The District has created a transition plan to assist families who will be redistricted in understanding the process and prepare for a move to a new school. This plan will be shared with parents/guardians on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the North Allegheny Senior High School auditorium. The format for this meeting is as follows:
  • Discussing the transition and timeline
  • Tips for parents on helping children deal with change
  • Question and answer session for all parents/guardians

The presentation from the meeting will be posted on North Allegheny website the day following the meeting for those who are unable to attend.
Please visit the redistricting webpage on the NA website for additional information and transition tips designed to assist families with for this change for the 2020-2021 school year. Additionally, School Counselors are available to assist students and can be contacted by calling the main office of your child’s current school.
The staff at both your child’s current school and new school are dedicated to making this transition as smooth as possible. North Allegheny looks forward to working with students and their families to help them successfully transition into their new school for the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

North Allegheny continues to be committed to approaching redistricting in a manner that is supportive of all involved. Please continue to pay close attention to your email for further communications regarding redistricting. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we move forward with plans to accommodate our rapidly growing and flourishing community.
