This May, National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) Detroit Chapter is proud to collaborate with the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) Friends of Asian Arts and cultures (FAAC) to celebrate the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Brought to our community by NAAAP Detroit and DIA FAAC, the Formosa Circus Art (FOCA) group, hailing from Taiwan, will put on a special performance and workshop on May 14th, 2:30pm, at DIA, 5200 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48202.
FOCA breaks through the limitations of traditional circus forms, combining acrobatic stunts with modern dance and live theater, to create a unique stage presence for the audience. The performance on May 14th will feature a variety of art forms including acrobatics, stunts, street dance, juggling, drumming, martial arts and extreme endurance. With years of local and international touring experience, the troupe is always taking its performance somewhere new and has quickly become one of the hottest tickets at various festivals in Asia and Europe. The troupe has performed at the Festival Villeneuve en Scene, Festival Pisteurs d’Etoiles, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Tini Tinou Circus Festival and many other international festivals. The FOCA performance will offer a specialized arts professionalism platform for both NAAAP Detroit and the DIA to connect with our community.
NAAAP Detroit Chapter encourages members and friends to join the Asian Pacific Americans Heritage Month Celebration on May 14th. Please visit www.naaapdetroit.org for more information.
