NAAB Welcomes Executive Director
Tanya Tamarkin
The NAAB is thrilled to welcome its new executive director, Tanya Tamarkin. Tanya started at the NAAB on October 14, 2019. She began her tenure by attending the NAAB Annual Meeting and the ACSA Administrators Conference, among other engagements. Tanya previously worked for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, last serving as its chief accreditation officer. Her experience includes working in the fields of regulatory compliance, accreditation, and nonprofit management at such organizations as the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs.

Tanya said about her new position, “I am honored to be selected as executive director for the NAAB, an organization that is committed to ensuring the quality of architecture education and increasing diversity in architecture programs. In my new role, I look forward to working collaboratively with and supporting the NAAB’s partners and stakeholders in our collective mission of furthering quality assurance in architecture education and supporting the profession of architecture.”
Team Training Development
With the approval of the 2020 Conditions and Procedures nearing, the NAAB has begun developing new materials for team training. In-person team training will resume in fall 2020 to prepare teams for visits in spring 2021. Stay tuned for more announcements on this in 2020.

The NAAB would like to thank all of its programs for working to complete another year of annual and interim reports! The 2019 Annual Report on Architecture Education will be published in spring 2020.
NAAB Office Closed for Winter Break
The NAAB will be closed for its winter break from December 24, 2019, through January 1, 2020. We will resume normal business hours on January 2, 2020.

Survey Says! Public Supports Licensure
In 2019, NCARB partnered with Benenson Strategy Group to launch a survey of public perceptions of regulation, licensing, and the architecture profession. Responses gathered from nearly 1,000 voters revealed that licensure standards for architects are an important factor in protecting the public health, safety, and welfare.
