NAAB Attends Canberra Accord Meeting
The South African Council of Architectural Professionals hosted the 7th general meeting of the Canberra Accord on Architectural Education in Bloemfontein, South Africa, August 29-31. David Hinson, FAIA, secretary of the NAAB and chair of its International Committee, represented the NAAB, and Janet Rumbarger, director, international services, attended as the Accord secretariat.

The signatories considered the recommendation from the Accord’s periodic review of the NAAB in April and voted to accept the NAAB’s accreditation system as leading to outcomes substantially equivalent to those of the other signatory systems for a period of six years. In other business, the Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Educations (JABEE) was transferred from provisional status to full signatory status, bringing the number of signatories to nine. The next general meeting will be hosted by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects in 2021.
