Dear NAACP Members and Friends, the 114th National Convention has come to a close, and I am pleased to report that the six Delegates elected to represent our Branch showed up and did their jobs! We not only worked hard and voted to re-elect our Florida State Conference (FSC) President and Branch Life Member Dr. Adora Obi Nweze to continue her WORK on the National Board of Directors, but we also spent almost 10 hours straight deliberating over and voting on this year's Resolutions.

Resolutions are the policies and programs of action that guide the NAACP through the coming year. They determine the areas of focus for our organization and the priority issues of the organization.

RE-ELECTED to the National Board of Directors.

** Dr. Adora received 85% of the votes

By the numbers:

Total # of Delegates who voted: 903

Total # of votes FOR Dr. Adora: 777

Total # of votes for her opponent: 130

This year's convention was amazing. It did not disappoint. We met, heard from and received words of thanks, encouragement, and our Charge from our National leaders: Chairman Leon W. Russell, Vice Chair, Karen Boykin-Towns, and our President & CEO Derrick Johnson.

We also heard from MANY inspirational speakers and activists such as Shavon Arline-Bradley (President & CEO of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc.); Lamman Rucker( Actor and Activist); Ayanna Pressley (US Representative for Massachusetts's 7th Congressional District);Cheryl Underwood (Talk show host and Activist); Ms. Elsie Cooke-Holmes (International President and Chair of the National Board of Directors for Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.) Hillary Rodham Clinton (former US Secretary of State); James Clyburn (US Representative serving the 6th District of South Carolina); Alfre Woodard (Actor and Activist), Meek Mill (Rapper and Activist). Robert Kraft (Activist and Chief Executive Officer of the New England Patriots); Rebecca (Becky) Pringle (President of the National Education Association (NEA). Randi Weingarten (President of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Joseph Kennedy, III (Ambassador for the City of Boston and Special Envoy to Northern Ireland), just to name a FEW.

**Special Shout out to National Board Member Michael Curry for hosting an OUTSTANDING "Old School" Party to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop. We had an amazing time meeting and mingling with "Old School Greats" such as Chubb Rock and Kurtis Blow.

Below I have included just a few pictures that I hope captured the Spirit of the 114th National Convention. I hope that they inspire you to join us next year in Las Vegas July 13th - 17th for the 115th NAACP National Convention.
