NAASF Community,
Our Supporting Members represent a clear majority of the Subway® Restaurants in the USA. Our goal is to work alongside FWH and help to support and enhance the most profitable company possible for the franchisee community. With that in mind, your NAASF Board has been involved in many conversations on a variety of topics that affect you as franchisees. Our voice has had a part in positive changes regarding Melts, remodels, operations, coupons and more.
The NAASF Discussion Forum, the central communications hub of the Subway franchisee community, continues to be the place for franchisees to engage with each other, share best practices, and timely and relevant information with each other that they may not find elsewhere. Last year, we applied some system enhancements to ensure security as well. We continue to offer this as a valuable and unique Member benefit to our Supporting Members. Since the information shared within our community helps to improve overall franchisee profitability, helps to ensure smoother operations and helps to provide insights to our Members, we are happy to continue it, and the recently-updated, NAASF app, for Member use as well.
As 2021 is behind us, we’ve been making progress in ’22 already. Your NAASF Board is focusing on four main areas:
1. Operational Efficiencies and streamlining overall operations
In-store technology, knowledge of how to determine the right level of hours of operation, improving build receipts—these are all examples of the education that NAASF will bring to the Franchisee Community so you can operate at the most efficient and profitable level possible, for you.
2. Cost Controls
We intend to provide guidance on SKU reduction as well as develop ways to decrease food costs and waste. We know that our businesses can be best managed by utilizing technology (such as LiveIQ).
3. Legislative Advocacy
NAASF is a founding member of and belongs to the Coalition of Franchisee Associations (“CFA”) and we regularly monitor the activity of various legislative efforts via the National Restaurant Association and International Franchise Association as well. NAASF supports legislative efforts that are beneficial to our Franchisee Members as small business owners and will continue to do so through the year ahead.
4. Corporate Policies
Much has been said recently about newly imposed policies, such as Steritech, hours of operations, and more. As the voice of the franchisee community, it is our goal to work alongside FWH and other system entities as appropriate, to make these policies as practical and palatable for the franchisee community as possible.
As issues arise, you can count on NAASF to seek resolution to situations and work together with others in the system to move brand Subway forward, for the entire community. I am looking forward to a franchisee-centric 2022!
Thank all of you for your continued support. Here’s to a prosperous and successful year ahead,
David
