NAASR Book Beat
On May 6, 2023, NAASR celebrated the appointment of Prof. Christina Maranci as the third holder of the Mashtots Chair in Armenian Studies at Harvard University, established by NAASR as the first such chair in the Armenian diaspora.

In recognition of this landmark event, this issue of Book Beat features books by Prof. Maranci and her predecessors Robert W. Thomson and James R. Russell; Avedis K. Sanjian who taught Armenian at Harvard from 1957-65; Richard N. Frye, who taught Armenian at Harvard prior to the chair’s establishment and provided the impetus for NAASR’s founders; and other significant works of scholarship on Armenian subjects published by Harvard University Press over the years.

Browse these selections from the Harvard Armenian Texts and Studies (HATS) series, by holders of the Harvard Mashtots Chair in Armenian Studies, and more in the NAASR Bookstore.
