Royal Dutch Shell has agreed with
IONITY (a venture between
Ford Motor and
Volkswagen AG) to start charging stations in 10
European nations. Shell and IONITY will initially have charging points at 80 of Shell's biggest highway fuel stations, with an average of six posts in each. It will take five to eight minutes on average to charge an EV at these points.
SK Innovation has decided to invest over 1 trillion won ($925 million) to boost electric vehicle (EV) battery production capacity. The company is set to break ground on a plant in
Hungary in February. The 430,000-square-meter plant is capable of producing EV cells with a combined 7.5 gigawatt hours (GWh) per year, beginning in 2020. The company also announced plans to expand EV battery production lines in
Korea) raising domestic production capacity of EV cells to a combined 4.7 GWh and to invest about 150 billion won ($138 million) to expand production capacity of lithium ion (li-ion) battery separators.

The government of South Australia and the City of Adelaide have agreed to increase the uptake of EVs as part of its commitment to the Climate Action Roundtable, which includes state leaders from Victoria, Western Australia, the Australian Capital Territory as well as city representatives from Adelaide, Hobart and Darwin. JAC) are planning to undertake research and development on multi-functional vehicles together. The three parties signed a memorandum of understanding to explore potential joint venture models. The companies will explore a full range of cooperation including advances in new energy models. JAC will have a 50% stake in the venture, with Volkswagen Group holding the other 50%.
