As the 119th Congress settled in to begin business, following a momentous new Administration's inauguration and accompanying change in Majority control for both Chambers on Capitol Hill, a top NAC delegation traveled to D.C. recently to ensure that the voices of America's ATM entrepreneurs are heard loud and clear right from the start in our nation's halls of power.
For this series of important Congressional meetings, Executive Director, Bruce Renard, and NAC's lead Governmental Affairs representative, Jon Alexander of Monument Strategies, were joined by the highly effective presence and participation of Nancy Gail Daniels and Kristy Preston Stagg, on behalf of Hyosung USA, and two veteran ATM Operators/NAC Board Members, Yonas Marcos, of Star Financial Services, Inc. and Joseph Lee, of Technovation Data, Inc.
This kick start to NAC's 2025 advocacy program was accompanied by the reintroduction in the House of NAC's two prominent legislative measures, the Safe Access to Cash Act (SACA) and the Payment Choice Act (PCA), both demonstrating strong bipartisan sponsorship support upon introduction. (See materials linked below.)
Safe Access to Cash Act (H.R. 1631)
Payment Choice Act (H.R. 1138)
NAC Eblast for SACA
Following our Hill visits, NAC’s governmental affairs team has secured the full and active support of several other powerful industry groups whose participation will be of significant assistance in achieving passage of SACA.
NAC also has successfully weighed in on our sector's ongoing severe problems with
"de-banking" (the widespread closing of essential ATM vault cash bank accounts and a categorical refusal to open new accounts for ATM Operators). NAC’s detailed submission on this subject has been included in the official record of the recent Senate Banking Committee’s hearing on “de-banking”, hopefully ensuring we are among those sectors receiving relief from any legislation enacted.
In sum, our two days of meetings were incredibly positive and encouraging on each of the three critical issues we now are battling in our corner of the War on Cash. Based on the feedback received during these key Senate and House visits, and in Zoom sessions held with select Congressional offices before/afterwards, we are hopeful that positive action will be forthcoming this Session on one or more of NAC's key initiatives.
Please stay tuned for ongoing ATM Nation advocacy updates over the coming months, leading up to our 2025 ATMs Go To Washington fly-in – where the pleasure of your company is earnestly and respectfully requested on behalf of ATM Nation!
