PACIFIC REGION VIRTUAL CHECK-IN ON ZOOM

We will host the first ever virtual check-in via Zoom on July 8, 4-5 PM (Pacific Time)! Please register online , and check the Pacific Region Webpage for the agenda.
NACD VIRTUAL BOARD MEETING

The 2020 Summer Board Meeting will take place via Zoom on July 20, 2-4 PM Pacific. We will discuss several action items:
  • Proposed Bylaw Amendment to allow for virtual business
  • Draft FY 2021 Budget
  • Proposed Board Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

NACD FORESTRY RPG RELEASES TOPICS FOR SUMMER VIRTUAL MEETING

On August 11, the Forestry RPG will host a series of 50-minute webinars, open to all conservation districts and forestry partners interested in attending. Topics include:
  • How conservation districts can support female forest landowners
  • Is biochar a growth area for conservation districts?
  • Nailing down the right approach
  • A closer look at American Tree Farm System (ATFS) standards
  • Supporting the NWTF National Forestry Initiative
  • Making the case for strong forest economies
  • Conservation districts provide a boost to pre-fire efforts

NACD 2021 Annual Meeting Theme

We need your help coming up with a theme to celebrate NACD's 75th Anniversary at the Annual Meeting in New Orleans, La., Feb. 6-10, 2021. The winning submission will also earn a complimentary full registration to the 2021 Annual Meeting. Submit your theme idea online .
DISTRICTS CONSERVE COASTS

To celebrate National Ocean Month during June, NACD's Coastal Resource Policy Group (RPG) hosted a social media campaign to celebrate district activities that support coastal, lake and riparian ecosystems. Many Pacific districts showed support using the hashtag #DistrictsConserveCoasts!

San Mateo Resource Conservation District in California won a raffle of two yeti mugs from NACD's Marketplace. Congratulations to all Pacific districts for the great coastal (and non-coastal) work they do!
NOMINATE YOUR CONSERVATION LEADERS

The NACD Friend of Conservation Award and the NACD Distinguished Service Award are accepting applications through August 31!   Visit the NACD website to learn more about the program and nominate outstanding conservation leaders online.

The Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), based in Beavercreek, Ore., seeks an experienced general manager to serve as the chief executive officer of the conservation district.
 
With a large staff and numerous programs and partnerships, the SWCD is a regional leader in conserving natural resources in Oregon. First Nations Development Institute is hosting a Native Lands Webinar Series intended for natural resource professionals working on tribal lands and others interested in learning innovative approaches to ecological stewardship.
