Update from NACE Vice President, Matt Machado

Winter is here and the New Year is upon us! Are you ready? One commonality of all counties of our nation is that we need to prepare for winter. As operators of our nation’s largest system of roads and bridges we know the value of being prepared. Whether your region has sub-freezing conditions, huge drifts of snow, or buckets of rain it is a challenge for all of us. Even moderate climates deal with winters that have longer periods of darkness and some level of rain which both affect visibility and safety on our roads. This past Spring and Summer our Roads Crew spent much of their time cleaning roadside ditches, vegetation mowing, pavement repairs, road striping, road legend work, stormwater culvert maintenance and stream and river maintenance. Sound like your County? Most likely, yes.
