Update from NACE President, Jeff Blue

I was lucky enough to spend an eventful week in California as a guest of the County Engineers Association of California. After spending time with their members, I have no doubt that NACE 2024 in Palm Springs will be a smashing success. The energy of their group and camaraderie they enjoy together is contagious when in their presence. Registration for NACE 2024 is open, and I highly encourage everyone to attend if possible and bring along a guest to enjoy the weather and beautiful sites that April will bring in Palm Springs.

I know we have stressed this in the past, but I just wanted to reiterate that the way we do our membership for NACE, your county is the NACE member and anyone working on roads in a member county can take advantage of all the benefits of NACE. Whether a County Road Official is interested in coming to the annual conference, joining a committee, participating in a NACE Connect learning webinar, learning about the new Waters of the U.S. Rule, getting clarification on new laws/bills, or just meeting and learning from other county road officials, you can do it all as a member of NACE. Every state meeting that I have attended during my tenure has similar themes to it. All NACE members are struggling with funding, regulations, legislation, personnel, longevity of infrastructure, etc. The list goes on and on and sharing those struggles and listening to how others tackle these issues can give members from different states a new or fresh idea to take back to their state that may make work life a little less taxing.
