Four teams remain as the dust settles after Day 1 of the NACL Overwatch tournament: Rutgers University, Ball State University, Arizona State University, and University of Illinois at Chicago
Phoenix, AZ — October 26, 2019 — The North American Collegiate League (NACL) kicks off their first collegiate online Overwatch tournament this weekend.

NACL experienced its own ‘Omnic Crisis' of sorts with technical difficulties early on, but their staff was able to quickly quell the robot uprising and present viewers with their typical high quality stream. Match action was explosive and left viewers excited for tomorrow's games. Attack and defend were the buzzwords of the day, as players across some of the biggest collegiate clubs battled to capture objectives, build ultimates and win team fights.

After a long day of competing, University of Illinois at Chicago, Arizona State University, Ball State University and Rutgers University stand as the final four teams. These four teams showed incredible teamwork, ability to make smart plays, and enthusiasm to play the game!

This union represents a turning point in collegiate Esports. As of now, the opportunities for collegiate esports players have been few and far between, and no other league has a focus of career expansion and development, and direct support for students' education. The North American Collegiate League plans to change that, and give students the opportunities to make a name for themselves in collegiate esports, and support their education by doing what they love.

With all the news about Esports growth, it may seem like there are endless opportunities to members of the community, but for collegiate players, esports opportunities are still a niche in the industry,” said Anna Badoian, NACL Media Relations Associate. “We plan to design a competitive scene that creates an opportunity for more collegiate students to pursue their passion for Esports and the gaming industry.”

The NACL team and loyal viewers are looking forward to day two where UIC, ASU, BSU and Rutgers will compete to see who will come out on top - with the title of ‘CHAMPION’ and $1,500 in scholarships tomorrow.
