Legislature Schedules
Interim Study Hearings
In preparation for the 2019 legislative session, the Legislature’s standing committees are beginning to schedule hearings on interim study resolutions. The resolutions are introduced during the session to examine new ideas for legislation and to dig deeper into issues raised by previously introduced bills. Public hearings are held on some of the priority issues selected by each legislative committee, including the topics that are of interest to counties. County officials are encouraged to attend the hearings and provide testimony. Unlike hearings during the legislative session, testifiers do not need to take a position in support or opposition to the issue, but are simply asked to provide input. Some of the hearings will be live-streamed through the Legislature's website.
The complete interim study schedule is available here or each month's hearings can be found on the Legislature's calendar .

Recover a lost or stolen device

Losing a phone or tablet in today’s ever connected world is a scary thought. Whether you use an Android device or an Apple device there are tools available to help you locate your lost device.

If you use an Android device, the easiest way to find your lost device is to sign into the Google account associated with the lost device on a PC or another device. Once signed into the Google account you can search “google find my device”. If your device’s location is turned on, a map will show you the location of your device as accurately as possible. If you still aren’t able to locate your device you can make the phone ring at full volume for 5 minutes. Additionally, if you still can’t locate your device, you can remote lock or completely erase the device so if it is found by someone else your data is protected.

If you use an Apple device, you can setup “Find my iPhone” to be prepared in the event you lose your device. This feature must be enabled before you lose your device to work properly. To enable the feature, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud. Then, scroll to the bottom and tap “Find my iPhone”. Slide the slider to turn on “Find my iPhone” and “Send Last Location”. Now that you have the feature enabled you will be able to sign into your account and locate your device on a map, play a sound, lock the device, or completely erase the device.

Join us for this webinar to celebrate October as National Community Planning Month and highlight the important role county planning plays in creating healthy, safe and vibrant counties.  The 2018 theme of National Community Planning Month is housing as community infrastructure.

Across the nation, county governments and residents are struggling with housing costs. County governments are most explicitly linked to housing through property assessments and the collection of property taxes, yet, they face a diverse set of challenges stemming from housing affordability issues. Counties are in a unique position to respond to affordable housing challenges because of the role many play in planning and zoning. With a variety of tools at their disposal, county governments are well-positioned to help residents find adequate and affordable housing.

Join us for this educational webinar to learn more about these best practice strategies, including county case examples from Buncombe County, N.C. and Grand County, Utah.
