Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
Counties are on the front lines of preparing communities to respond to disasters, including global outbreak of a respiratory illness caused by a novel coronavirus.” Source:  NACo, 2020 .

Information about the Coronavirus Disease is available on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) , including but not limited to information about:
·        How it spreads,
·        Symptoms,
·        Prevention & treatment, and
·        Information for Communities, Schools, Businesses and Health Departments.

Within the Interim Guidance for Businesses and Employers to Plan and Respond to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), February 2020 , recommended strategies for employers to use now include:
·        Actively encourage sick employees to stay at home,
·        Separate sick employees,
·        Emphasize staying home when sick, respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene by all employees,
·        Perform routine environmental cleaning, and
·        Advise employees before traveling to take certain steps.

For additional guidance and steps about addressing each of the above listed steps, see the interim guidance document referred to above.

As stated by the CDC’s interim guidance:
All employers should be ready to implement strategies to protect their workforce from COVID-19 while ensuring continuity of operations. During a COVID-19 outbreak, all sick employees should stay home and away from the workplace, respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene should be encouraged, and routine cleaning of commonly touched surfaces should be performed regularly. Additional information can be obtained from resources listed on the CDC’s website, your local health departments and your local emergency managers.
