Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Nebraska Legislature has suspended meeting and will remain adjourned until reconvened by the Speaker of the Legislature.
The 60-day legislative session was scheduled to adjourn on April 23. After the budget was advanced from the first round of debate on March 12, the 40th day, the Speaker announced the suspension. Depending on the course of the pandemic, senators may return briefly to adopt the budget and then convene at a later date to continue debate on other bills.
The Nebraska Constitution requires the Legislature to convene on the first Wednesday after the first Monday in January but does not set a date to adjourn.
The weekly NACO Legislative Report will not be published until the Legislature reconvenes.
