This year, as NADEC celebrates its 50th anniversary of the formation of the DEC chapters at the annual conference, we are addressing topics that we hope will be helpful to you in your export journey. The conference agenda will be addressing issues that directly affect your business every day.
The conference will present an ideal opportunity for you to reconnect with friends, colleagues and customers!
The agenda features key government officials, importers and exporters, international experts on supply chain and compliance, technology providers and more.
Here is an example of the topics on tap:

Argentina's remarkable political shift now suggests that the potential for a de-risking and the emergence of essentially a new market for US SME/MMEs. This program will address these changes and the opportunities that lie ahead.
|
|
We will hear "What is new at SBA" from Dan Pische, National Director of Trade Finance, US Small Business Administration.

Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with trade resource partners to discuss specific export programs.

|
|
The EXIM Council on Small Business requests your input via the linked EXIM Survey to aid agency leadership in gaining a better understanding of the bank’s current level of awareness, perception, and satisfaction within the export community.
We encourage all DEC members to take this short survey (see link below), and to share the link with fellow colleagues and business partners who are involved in exporting. The survey has been extended until March 15, 2024.
EXIM is an important resource for many DEC members, providing key credit risk mitigation and financial support that would otherwise not be available to U. S. exporters.

In the fast-paced realm of international ecommerce, smaller American exporters often grapple with the challenge of establishing a successful ecommerce presence in global markets. By leveraging the existing infrastructure and audience reach of these platforms, small to medium sized businesses can efficiently expand their exports and embark on a successful journey into the world of global e-commerce.
While your own e-commerce website platforms (think WooCommerce, and Shopify) may seem like the default choice, the process can be a demanding endeavor in terms of resources, both management and budgetary. Disruptions in key global shipping route signal unprecedented challenges for global trade
AJOT, February 22, 2024
The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has released “Navigating Troubled Waters. The Impact to Global Trade of Disruption of Shipping Routes in the Red Sea, The Black Sea and the Panama Canal” signaling how attacks on Red Sea shipping which have severely affected shipping through the Suez Canal, added to existing geopolitical and climate-related challenges, are re shaping the worlds’ trade routes and disrupting the lifelines of the world
In the wake of recent attack to shipping, the Red Sea's maritime trade routes through the Suez Canal have become severely disrupted further impacting the global trade landscape. This development compounds the ongoing disruption in the Black Sea due to the war in Ukraine, which has resulted in shifts the oil and grain trade routes, altering established patterns.
Additionally, the Panama Canal, a critical artery linking the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, is confronting a separate challenge: dwindling water levels. Diminished water levels in the canal have raised concerns about the long-term resilience of global supply chains, underscoring the fragility of the world's trade infrastructure.

Why hasn’t the UK signed more trade deals?
CITY A.M. Jessica Frank-Keyes, February 21, 2024
On leaving the EU, the UK lost access to the European Union’s trade deals with countries including Israel, Mexico and South Korea.
But the UK has since negotiated a host of new free trade agreements (FTAs) with Australia, Japan and New Zealand, giving British businesses tariff free access to markets abroad, and agreed to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.
We’ve ‘rolled over’ around 70 FTAs, meaning we copied the deal we had before Brexit, as an EU member, and, crucially, signed a UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement.
But it hasn’t all been plain sailing.
