Transportation: Missing Link in Family Caregiver Support

NADTC developed this resource to provide information for caregiver support professionals and helpful ways to connect with community transportation options and related support services. Included, are recommendations on forming partnerships with transportation providers to improve transportation options that are accommodating to the unique needs of family caregivers.

5310 Program Agency Profiles

Discover creative approaches taken by direct and sub-recipients of FTA Section 5310 funding, known as Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities. NADTC showcases transportation programs that utilize 5310 in non-traditional ways, thinking beyond the bus, to improve the lives of older adults and people with disabilities. The 5310 profiles in this resource highlights volunteer transportation programs, mobility management, coordination, outreach strategies, and much more.

In Case You Missed It

NADTC hosted a webinar with the Fallon-Paiute Shoshone Tribe exploring how they developed a plan for meeting the transportation needs of tribal elders and tribal citizens with disabilities using FTA Innovative Coordinated Access & Mobility (ICAM) funding. This webinar highlighted the tribe’s planning process, key partnerships, and plans for integrating new vehicle purchases to address transportation insecurities. National Distracted Driving Awareness Month is a time to spotlight the serious risks of driving while distracted. Whether it's texting, eating or adjusting the radio, distracted driving can have devastating consequences. Preventing distractions on the road is especially important for older adults and people with disabilities, who rely on safe, accessible transportation. Older Americans Month is celebrated annually each May to promote the contributions of older adults, challenges stereotypes and highlights the opportunities that come with growing older. Funding Opportunities

U.S. DOT has issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity for the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. This funding opportunity awards planning and implementation grants to regional, local and Tribal initiatives to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. Applications are due June 26.
