Happening Now
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the ADA! On July 26, 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) into Law. Since then, our nation's transportation system has been transformed by this Civil Rights Legislation which in turn, has positively impacted the freedom and independence of people with disabilities. Visit the ADA National Network for ways to recognize this event in your community.
Did you know August 21 is National Senior Citizens Day?
Your agency is likely doing a lot to support older adults on this special day. Below are a few ideas to help celebrate the unique needs and immense wisdom and contributions of older adults.
Encourage community members to check-in on their older family members or neighbors.
Highlight some of your older riders or drivers on social media.
Allow older adults to ride for free on August 21.
Promote volunteerism throughout the community.
