Join NADTC on March 27th at 2pm EST, as we explore with the Fallon-Paiute Shoshone Tribe how they have developed a scalable plan for meeting the transportation needs of tribal elders and members with disabilities, by leveraging Innovative Coordinated Access and Mobility (ICAM) pilot program funds. The webinar will highlight the tribe’s planning process, key partnerships, and plans for integrating an accessible vehicle to address transportation insecurities. Click here to register for the webinar!

New! FTA Section 5310 Profiles

Discover creative approaches taken by direct and sub-recipients of FTA Section 5310 funding, known as Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities. Each month, NADTC will showcase transportation programs who utilize 5310 in non-traditional ways, thinking beyond the bus, to improve the lives of older adults and people with disabilities. The 5310 profiles in this resource will highlight volunteer transportation programs, mobility management, multisector coordination, outreach or partnership strategies, and much more.

Blog: America Walks Promotes Walkable Communities

Did you know that nearly a third of Americans do not drive? Whether due to age, disability, or financial constraints, millions of people rely on walking, rolling, biking, public transit, or some other way to get where they need to go. This blog explores America Walks' initiative "Week Without Driving" and how citizens can get involved and become more aware of what is happening in their communities.

Happening Now

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is celebrated annually to raise awareness of the contributions that people with developmental disabilities provide and celebrate their meaningful contributions at the local and state levels. The theme for 2025, We’re Here All Year, focuses on how people with disabilities are always contributing, not just during the month of March.

Partner Updates

Partners for Youth with Disabilities has launched a new Peer Mentoring Implementation Guide. This virtual course guides youth with disabilities to become more involved in local transportation planning efforts to incorporate their lived experiences, and to help transportation officials understand their mobility challenges and barriers within the community.

The National Center for Applied Transit Technology has released a Data Literacy Survey to assist in creating future data-focused resources and workshops geared toward rural, tribal, and small-urban transit agencies. Please take a moment to fill out this quick survey!

Funding Opportunities

U.S. DOT has issued an amended Notice of Funding Opportunity for no local-match grants under the Rural and Tribal Assistance Pilot Program. Materials and a recording of the informational webinar is available, along with a sample application for grantees to review. The application portal is now available, and will close April 17, 4:59 PM Eastern. Click here for more information.
