Apply Today for the Rural Community Innovations Transportation Planning Grant

NADTC is seeking applications for the 2024 Rural Community Innovations Transportation Planning Grant. This new opportunity will offer up to $35,000 per grantee to engage with the community to develop a written plan of action to guide implementation of identified strategies. Eligible applicants include tribes, local and regional private nonprofit or government organizations located in rural communities, including tribes. Eligible recipients of FTA's Section 5310 program in rural and tribal communities are encouraged to apply.

Happening Next Month

June is Pride Month, a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality. NADTC reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that transportation services are inclusive and accessible to all users, including older adults and people with disabilities within the LGBTQ+ community.


NADTC developed a tip sheet to assist transportation providers create a more welcoming environment for all riders.

U.S. DOT & FTA Resources

FTA is collaborating with the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) to identify current and future priorities for meaningful transit development standards. The survey will gather responses from a wide variety of transportation providers whom would most likely benefit from these new standards.

The deadline to complete the survey is May 31, 2024.

N-CATT is offering free technical assistance, May through September 1st, working one-on-one with an industry expert to help ensure your agency is on the right path. Experts will be available to help with GTFS feeds, establishing connections between different data services and platforms, conducting network analyses, using Census data to plan service, and more. Funding Opportunities

The Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation Grants (SMART) Program was established to provide grants to eligible public sector agencies to conduct demonstration projects focused on advanced smart community technologies and systems in order to improve transportation efficiency and safety. Applications are due July 12th, by 5 PM EST.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) announced a new competitive funding opportunity, Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program (ATIIP). This grant encourages communities to plan, design or construct safe and connected active transportation networks, to support walking, biking and rolling connections to school, work, local businesses, recreation or healthcare. Applications are due June 17.
