Since October 2022, NADTC has worked with seven organizations to address the transportation needs and preferences of diverse older adults and people with disabilities through equity and accessibility grants. Equity and Accessibility Grants - Lessons Learned focuses on insights gathered throughout the project period and can serve as a resource for similar projects.

November 16th is National Rural Health Day, and is an opportunity honor the incredible efforts of rural health care providers, organizations, and other stakeholders dedicated to addressing the unique health care needs of rural America. November is Epilepsy Awareness Month


There are 3.4 million people living with epilepsy in the U.S., and can affect anyone regardless of race, age or gender. You can view the recording of NADTC's Office Hours hosted in September 2022 about the importance of recognizing seizures and how transportation operators can keep all riders safe. U.S. DOT and FTA Resources

Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program is a new competitive grant opportunity from FHWA. The program is available to eligible applicants for planning and design projects, as well as construction projects to expand active transportation networks. Approximately $45 million in funding has been appropriated for the program. An informational webinar and NOFO will be released in the fall of 2023.

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is seeking comments on how technical assistance is administered to the Tribal Transit competitive program. FTA will be hosting a virtual consultation on November 2 to introduce the consultation process and the schedule for implementation.

Funding Opportunities

The Thriving Communities Program funding opportunity has been announced, and is available to applicants seeking technical assistance, planning, and capacity building support for a team of community partners that may lack the staffing or technical expertise to explore, plan and develop transportation services, housing options, and community revitalization activities.

Partner Resources

The USAging 2023 Chartbook, More Older Adults, More Complex Needs: Trends and New Directions from the National Survey of Area Agencies on Aging, is now available. According to the survey results, between 2019 and 2022, 91 percent of AAAs provide transportation services.

The National Center for Applied Transit Technology (N-CATT) is now accepting applications for transit agencies to receive one-on-one technical assistance through the Strategic Technology Technical Assistance Teams (STTATs) initiative. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis, please contact Andrew Carpenter with any questions, carpenter@ctaa.org.

National RTAP is accepting nominations for the Wall of Fame, which recognizes exemplary staff in the rural and tribal transit industry for their dedication, innovation, and professionalism. All submissions will be displayed at their conference in Myrtle Beach and on the National RTAP website.
