Important Update for SHPA Members,

Today, our national partners at the National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH), along with a coalition of local governments and other non-profits, filed a lawsuit against HUD and the Trump Administration over the FY2026 CoC NOFO. This morning NAEH filed a legal action, titled National Alliance to End Homelessness v. United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island and is supplemental to the ongoing lawsuit against HUD over the FY2025 CoC NOFO.

As stated in the lawsuit, the FY2026 CoC NOFO is a continuation of the Trump Administration’s attempts to eliminate funding for existing permanent housing programs and harm people experiencing homelessness. This NOFO would force providers to reject the existence of transgender individuals and ignore racial disparities in homelessness. As written, this NOFO violates federal law and the intent of the Continuum of Care Program.

SHPA is a proud member of NAEH, and we stand in support of the coalition taking legal action against the illegal attempts to end funding for evidence-based solutions to homelessness. As this case progresses, we will continue to keep you up to date with the status of this lawsuit and what it means for providers and residents of permanent supportive housing.

Thank You,

Supportive Housing Providers Association
