Message from the Interim Executive Director
Dear Colleague,

How are you? It was so energizing to attend the NAMC Summer Mixer – with so many colleagues and old friends – and so inspiring to learn more about the racial equity training, consulting, and coaching provided by our special guests, the National Coalition Building Institute.

I know I am more inspired than ever by your work and the stories you share about what you are learning, how you are partnering with the people most affected, and the impact you are making every day in the face of exhausting circumstances and so much uncertainty. As we look ahead, we hope you and your team continue to draw courage and support from your NAMC connections – as well as the resources we provide through newsletters and bulletins and the events and training we produce – whether you attend in person or remotely.

Meanwhile, please register to join us for the annual awards breakfast on September 24 -- complete with great performances and tributes and the Red-Carpet Gallery. (And, as always, If there is any chance you are ready to get more involved – just let us know anytime!)

On June 22, 2021, the Monterey County Board of Supervisors passed its budget for this next fiscal year. The total of $1.7 billion is a $16.2 million increase over last year’s budget. The Californian article by Angelica Cabral provides a great breakdown of revenue and expenses along with insights on current challenges and the future direction of our region.
