National Afterschool STEM Program Survey
STEM Next has partnered with Public Profit to evaluate the Million Girls Moonshot as a whole and help support our data collection efforts. They are coordinating the distribution and analysis of a national program level STEM survey.  The survey is available beginning Monday, March 1, and will close on April 30. It takes between 5 - 10 minutes to complete. Everyone who completes the survey will be invited to an exclusive webinar on hands-on engineering activities youth can do at home. Plus, 10 respondents will receive a $100 gift card!
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
[Virtual National Institute]
Wednesday, April 28 – Friday, April 30
9:00AM – 2:00 PM Pacific Time
This past year marked the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, a reckoning with systemic racism, and the toll of climate change. Through it all, afterschool systems rose to address every challenge. At the 2021 Every Hour Counts National Institute, participants will gather virtually to reimagine the future of afterschool and what’s possible to engage, empower, and support young people. Participants will explore how to develop community-wide solutions with young people and all leaders from across communities.

RESOURCES & TOOLS
Afterschool STEM Hub
The Afterschool STEM Hub is supported by a collaboration of education leaders and stakeholders, led by the Afterschool Alliance, working to empower advocates with the tools they need to effectively make the case for afterschool and summer STEM learning.

Visit the STEM Hub and find great resources to help you build public support for afterschool and summer STEM learning!
Million Girls Moonshot Free Toolkit
The Engineering Mindset Toolkit is a collection of resources and tools for all 50 Mott Afterschool States Networks and their partners to access and utilize for the Million Girls Moonshot Initiative.
The resources in the Engineering Mindset Toolkit are not exhaustive. We will continue to add and modify the resources as the Initiative evolves and depending upon the needs of the Networks.

The Million Girls Moonshot focuses on the Engineering Mindset which we believe compliments the STEM mindset, as well as innovation, invention, and entrepreneurial education.

The Nevada Afterschool Network is excited to join the Million Girls Moonshot in this movement and empower the girls in our state. Stay tuned for exciting STEM opportunities for NV girls!
Friends Forever International
Friends Forever International (FFI) understands these are "out of the box" times and are providing "out of the box" programs that are uniquely tailored to your specific school/organization and student population.

FFI has decades of experience working with all cultures. Due to the amount of time that we devote to each team of students we work with, we limit the number of collaborations we embark upon each year. If you feel that your cohort of students would like to have an intense, innovative, and unique leadership development experience that is unlike any other program, then please contact us at programs@ff.international or call 603.397.5301.

FFI is based in New Hampshire. All sessions will be virtual with additional opportunities for travel to the FFI Campus in New Hampshire starting in 2021 and the FFI Center in Northern Ireland starting in 2022.
Mizzen by Mott App
Engaging with youth in a virtual setting can be challenging. Educators need new tools to provide the best experiences for youth, and the Mizzen app has stepped up to the challenge!

Mizzen by Mott inspires, engages and sparks learning in young people. With activities from premier organizations like Jazz at Lincoln Center and powerful management tools, this new app can help you strengthen your afterschool program. Supported by the Mott Foundation, Mizzen is available at no cost to afterschool professionals!

Missed the LIVE demo? No worries. We have it recorded! Check it out here.
Getting Ready for Summer
Summer Learning & Recovery
Summer learning programs have the power to be a game changer for youth. Programs can help students re-connect with peers and caring adults, re-engage in learning, and accelerate students’ social, emotional, and academic recovery.

The Afterschool Alliance has created a factsheet summarizing the benefits and research on summer programs that explains how they help accelerate learning and meet kids’ needs. It emphasizes messaging about equity, highlights role programs play in addressing hunger, and includes research-based strategies for successful summer programs.
National Summer Learning Association
Summer Bootcamp: Get Ready for Summer Series
The Summer Bootcamp Series provides program leaders with the tools they need at this moment to keep kids healthy, learning, earning, and thriving through this pandemic and beyond. In this series, the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) dives into strategies to accelerate learning, build critical partnerships, and plan successful programs with evidence-based practices relevant to any scenario of summer plans emerging this season. Recordings and presentation slides from prior sessions can be accessed here.
