FREE Lead Water Testing For NV Childcare Facilities
Licensed child care centers in Nevada can now enroll in the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection’s Lead Testing Program. Test kits, technical assistance, and follow-up support are available at no cost to screen for lead in tap water used for drinking and preparing food.
This program is open to all licensed childcare providers, including daycares, home-based childcare services, childcare centers, and more.

The Million Girls Moonshot Toolkit is a collection of resources and tools for all 50 Mott Afterschool States Networks, their partners and programs, to utilize for the Million Girls Moonshot Initiative. The center has a working paleontology laboratory, museum displays of fossils from across the state of Nevada, and a Dembi Shop (Dembi means rock in the Shoshone language). Where Did All the Afterschool Staff Go? A special brief on afterschool staffing challenges from the fall 2021 Afterschool in the Time of COVID-19 survey.
Stories of staff shortages in sectors from healthcare to hospitality, and industries from the airlines to trucking, have made news headlines over the past months.1 According to a recent survey by the Afterschool Alliance, afterschool programs have not been spared and providers say staffing is the most pressing challenge. One survey respondent asked, “Where did all the [out-of-school time] staff go,” noting that “It’s been near impossible to find, and retain, new staff…and current staff have started expressing burnout.”
