Call for Nominees

Nursing regulation in the public interest for safe, competent care.

Nominations are now being accepted for the position of President-elect and Directors in Regions 5 (Campbellton & Restigouche) and 7 (Miramichi).

As per NANB by-laws, nursing positions on the Board of Directors continues to welcome all registrants in good standing. However, we are progressing through a governance review and adopting best practice in Board composition by introducing a competency matrix model that identifies skill-gaps for recruitment efforts that would strengthen the Board with future decision making. Current Board composition would indicate a need for interested registrants with a knowledge of governance and board experience, or regulatory work experience.

Recognize a Nurse Colleague

Awards are special recognition of a nurse who goes above and beyond their day-to-day responsibilities in order to support their health teams and provide exceptional care for their patients. Nurses are most often the first point of contact, the constant presence and the professional voice for patients receiving care…and throughout this pandemic, nurses continue to rise to the challenge, 24/7 as true healthcare heroes.

Nominate an RN or NP who deserves recognition for their outstanding contribution to the nursing profession for one of the following Awards:

Excellence in Clinical Practice Award
Awards of Merit (Nursing Practice, Administration, Education and Research)
Entry-Level Nurse Achievement Award
Life Membership

NEW Mandatory Learning Module

Have you completed your self-assessment against your standards of practice? Have you chosen indicators to focus on in 2021? NANB recommends you choose at least one indicator and develop a learning plan for that indicator.

Here are some tips for preparing a learning plan:

Choosing one or two indicators to focus on per year is suggested; however, the number of indicators chosen is a personal decision. Your plan should support how you are going to meet your learning goals. NANB recommends that Learning Goals be... Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely (SMART). Visit SMART goals for more information.

Completion of a learning module is a mandatory step in your annual CCP. This years’ learning module is Standards for Documentation. To access the Learning Module, login to your "My Profile" via NANB's website.

Standards for the Nurse-Client Relationship

The Standards for the Nurse-Client Relationship have been revised. The purpose of this document is to provide more specific direction to nurses regarding the establishment, limits, maintenance and termination of the nurse-client relationship. We encourage nurses to consult the updated document to continue to provide safe, competent and ethical nursing care.

The Guidelines for Consent have been revised and the document is now titled Fact Sheet - Consent. This fact sheet focuses on the nurse’s legal and ethical obligations regarding consent.
