" Read the full article on NBC News Read More A Message from NAPCA's CEO Joon Bang As NAPCA turns 40 years old in 2019, we reflect on the vision to empower our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) elders across the country, the organization's years of service, and the thousands of people that have joined the NAPCA community since 1979. I've had the honor of meeting numerous elders who are among our NAPCA program alumni and current participants, listened to their stories, and walked away each time humbled by their testimonies of resilience, grit, strength, and grace. We acknowledge now more than ever the weight of responsibility NAPCA bears as the sole national organization with the mission to preserve and promote the dignity, well-being, and quality of life of AAPIs as they age. This year, we'll be exploring ways to bring innovation into problem-solving the issues experienced by our elders, develop new partnerships with organizations aligned with our core values, and be the vehicle and platform by which our AAPI aging adults may be heard. This work cannot be done without you. We need people who believe in the rich tradition and culture of honoring and respecting our elders to join us in advancing our mission. Please partner with us to break society's habit of minimizing the needs of our aging community, and let's work together across generations, languages, and ethnicities to support our most vulnerable. Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) The Senior Environmental Employment Program, also known as SEE, assists the Environmental Protection Agency and other federal, state, and local agencies in meeting their environmental mandates by using the talents and experience of workers 55 years of age and older. Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) The Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services Program, also known as ACES, assists the US Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service by providing workers 55 years of age and older to support conservation-related programs.   Click here to learn more about ACES . National Resource Center on AAPI Aging The National Resource Center on AAPI Aging is the nation’s first and only technical assistance resource center dedicated to building the capacity of long-term service and support systems to equitably serve AAPI older adults and their caregivers. NAPCA supports LEAD Coalition's public comment letter submitted on January 17 to the HHS's proposed Healthy People 2030 objectives urging additional focus on the dementia-specific objectives, modification of dementia-relevant objectives, re-inclusion of a HP2020 objective omitted from the HP2030 proposal. NAPCA Prepares to Pilot Dementia Friends in 2019

Building Dementia Friends in Chinese and Samoan Communities Dementia Friends is a global movement to change the way people think, act and talk about memory loss and dementia. The program aims to raise public awareness about dementia by mobilizing individuals to turn their increased understanding into positive action within the community. Click here to read more .

NAPCA's Team Spotlight Danee Prasert joined NAPCA as the new SCSEP Project Manager of the Los Angeles Project Office at the end of September 2018. Although she was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, she is part of a small family of refugees who immigrated to the United States for a better life. She grew up with little money, but the schools and libraries, and eventually, social services from non-profit programs assisted her to feel fulfilled in many ways. Due to these experiences, Danee realizes that nonprofit organizations are important to the community, and was fortunate to acquire her first job in this field. She has now been working in the nonprofit world for over fifteen years, has a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management, and still volunteers in her spare time. Danee is grateful for the opportunity to join NAPCA, not only to continue her nonprofit career, but to continue helping people though her work.
