NASCA Webinar: A Managed Service Contract for Facilities Management in Tennessee

The State of Tennessee has taken on an initiative to improve the management of the state's real estate portfolio, one of its largest expenses. Learn how officials from the Department of General Services (DGS) worked with Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) to prepare a master plan of the agency's facilities and improve the organization and management of those facilities. With this revamped approach to facilities management, DGS will save more than $40 million over the 5-year contract.   Attendees will:
  • Hear how and why Tennessee outsourced its Facilities Management Program 
  • Review the 2016 NASCA Institute case study, A Managed Service Contract for Facilities Management in Tennessee
  • Learn how Tennessee provided a high-performing program delivering sustainable, transformational results in the least amount of time and cost
  • Examine Tennessee's processes, results and lessons learned

This case study was initially presented at the 2016 NASCA Institute on Management and Leadership. Registration is open to all NASCA state members, and state employees or others recommended to attend as a guest of the Chief Administrator. In addition, all NASCA corporate members all welcome to participate.

NASCA is gathering data on state facilities practices from state chief administrators and key staff on facilities management to help guide the content and programming offered.  Please take the survey.  

NASCA requests that state chief administrators complete this survey, or do so in 
close collaboration with senior facilities management staff.  Your state's participation is greatly appreciated. This information will be used to help guide the webinar, as well as the May 2017 in-person Roundtable: A Managed Service Contract for Facilities Management.

New! Call for Submission of Institute Case Study Ideas

The Institute Planning Committee is working to identify two "live case studies" related to the Institute theme, the Velocity of Change. The case  studies will drawn from real-world experiences that outline complex and relevant situations that any member of NASCA may encounter. 

The case studies play an integral role in the Institute, acting as a catalyst for discussion and providing a reference point that enables participants to apply the lessons from the Institute to their own experience. Leadership for a Networked World and NASCA are encouraging members to apply to having their work featured as a case study.  Case study submissions can 
feature a state or private sector partner that is doing one of the following:
  • Leveraging the new speed of change to provide better service at a lower cost
  • Using data/analytics/platforms to bring speed and agility to government operations
  • Managing the political environment to align stakeholders on the pace of change
  • Realigning a state's workforce and culture to operate at a new pace
  • Establishing new incentives to help pace change
  • And other ideas on harnessing the new velocity of change!
