A New Adventure Begins!

On Thursday, August 25, NASD experienced an internet outage due to a manhole fire. Crews were unable to access the area until it was safe to install new fiber cables. Students, staff, and families may have experienced limited access to TigerID and other related services. Because of this outage, students will be granted additional time to complete work. Please discuss any disruptions with your teacher.

Just like the four key directions on a compass (N-E-S-W), our Strategic and Comprehensive is guided by four key areas: the North Allegheny Experience, Engagement, Support Services, and a Welcoming Environment.

For the next four weeks, we will spotlight the goal of a strategic focus area in the 2022-2029 Strategic & Comprehensive Plan. This week we will feature The North Allegheny Experience.

The North Allegheny Experience

Through excellence in academics, activities, arts, and athletics, North Allegheny School District strives to prepare all students for success in a changing world. This commitment requires continual reflection to support growth and improvement, constant innovation in teaching and learning, and encouragement of students to discover and pursue their interests.  

GOAL: Expose all students to a well-rounded education that includes a modernized instructional model, encourages authentic and relevant post-secondary opportunities, and encourages all students to take full advantage of the breadth of our extracurricular and co-curricular opportunities to enrich their overall NA experience.

The North Allegheny Board of School Directors will vote to approve the Strategic and Comprehensive Plan at the September 21, 2022 meeting. Information about NASD Board of Directors Meetings can be found on our website.

Community Communication

To offer improved communication with our families, we will begin including NASD School Board Meeting E-Reports in weekly newsletters following Board meetings. Below are links to the e-reports from the August 17 and August 24 meetings.

Additionally, an email will be sent to our families in the days before a Wednesday Board Meeting once the meeting agendas are posted to BoardDocs. In that email, important agenda items will be highlighted.

NASD School Visitor Check-In Process

Please bring a photo ID when visiting our schools

As part of ongoing enhancements to the security of our buildings, all schools have visitor check-in kiosks near the front entrances. 

• North Allegheny School District requires all visitors to sign in using the Raptor System through the kiosks with their photo ID before they can access the building.
• If you are visiting our building for the first time, please allow for additional time to register with the Raptor kiosk so that you are in the school’s system for future events.
• If you registered last year, you may not need to register again; however, guests will still need to scan their ID to check in to the school. 

NASD Flu Vaccination Clinic

Saturday, September 24

North Allegheny School District will host a drive-thru flu vaccination clinic for students and their families Saturday, September 24, from 8-11 a.m. at the Central Administration Offices.

If you are interested in the clinic, please

• complete the necessary paperwork, and
• select your preferred date and time slot.

Completed paperwork should be submitted to lkelley@northallegheny.org no later than Monday, September 19.

Community Connections - Help Students Own Their Financial Future

Wednesday, September 28, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

NAI Auditorium

We invite parents/guardians and students to join us for an interactive investment education and financial planning workshop with Gene Natali, co-founder and CEO of Troutwood, a financial technology company founded out of the Carnegie Mellon University Swartz Center. 

The combination of student loan debt, quickly changing retirement plan types, and investment accessibility makes this conversation imperative. All attendees will have the opportunity to build and leave with a working "personal" financial plan that considers their unique college and/or career interests.
